
California- Whales On Course

Two mixed-up humpback whales, milling around for days in an unfamiliar river delta, kept wildlife workers guessing Monday and seemed in no rush to return to the sea.
After entertaining hundreds of gawkers along the banks of the Sacramento River over the weekend, the female and her calf - dubbed Delta and Dawn - headed south toward San Francisco Bay, only to stop at a bridge, turn around and head back toward Sacramento.
Despite a flotilla of up to 16 boats trying to herd the creatures down a 400-foot-wide shipping channel, the whales were still at least 50 miles from the Pacific Ocean late Monday...
