It is said that the world's fisheries will collapse in fifty years. Fifty years. No more wild seafood. Ocean stocks will be depleted. Make no mistake it wont just effect our eating habits, but also all our underwater recreation. The U.S. is not alone to blame...far from it, but we do import 70% percent of our seafood. It is most definitely a seafood crisis.
California is trying to do something about. The Aquarium of the Pacific brought together many agencies including environmentalist, government officials and, of course, financiers in order to find a way to make our fisheries more sustainable.
Locally farmed seafood would provide California with a fresh, sustainable source of seafood. The proposed aquaculture is meant to bring in revenue to the state as well as lead the way in a saving the oceans. Big up Cali-Lets all follow suit.
