Blue Whales Surprisingly Nimble
Researchers from the Cascadia Research Collective have published findings that show Blue Whales performing 360-degree barrel rolls when approaching a Krill Patch. Using harmless, suction-cupped acoustic tags, the whales movements were tracked off southern California.
Despite having comparatively small fins and flukes this behavior was not expected due to the effort needed to perform these maneuvers.
