Basking Shark Protection Urged

Hotspots at sea where basking sharks gather need to be protected to ensure the survival of the threatened fish, conservationists have urged.

Surveys conducted by the Wildlife Trusts and Natural England showed a series of hotspots off the south west of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland where basking sharks gather at the surface for feeding and courtship. Previous research has also identified hotspots around the Isle of Man.
