Backscatter’s Top Lenses for Compact Cameras
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, May 7, 2020 @ 07:00 PM (EST)

A couple of weeks ago, Backscatter shared their favorite weird lenses for underwater photography. This week, the boys are back with another essential buyer’s guide: “The Best Underwater Lenses for Compact Cameras 2020.”

Compact cameras are great for out-of-the box portraits of medium-sized subjects like reef fish, but if you want to shoot anything else, you’ll need to add on attachment lenses to allow you to tackle wide-angle subjects like sharks and reef scenes, and macro subjects like nudibranchs and seahorses.

Backscatter’s guide gives you a handy overview of the type of lenses out there, the compatibility issues you have to consider, and of course, the specific products that they love the most. These guys have shot pretty much every lens under the sun, so you can be assured that their selection is both comprehensive and carefully considered.

Check out more recommendations for wet lenses in DPG’s articles: “Macro Wet Lenses for Underwater Photography (Compact Cameras)” and “Wide-Angle Wet Lenses for Underwater Photography (Compact Cameras).”
