Australia Proposes To Protect Snapper Stocks
By Matt J. Weiss, October 10, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
As edible fish species become overfished, it becomes increasingly important to save them. The Queensland Department of Primary Industries devised a proposal to protect stocks of salmon.
The stocks are apparently dangerously low, and the Australian Marine Conservation Society believes the actions are long overdue.
The proposal plans to limit the amount of fish taken so they are regulated on a quota basis. DPG has covered a lot of the fisheries crises, and we will continue to also cover what is being done about it -- no matter how small or large.
