Editor's Note:

This is just another example of the conservation work of Wyland. We are huge fans of Wyland at DPG and consider him an inspiration for marine conservation.

Environmental artist Robert Wyland, who will paint the last of his 100 “Whaling Walls” at the Beijing OIympic in July, will be on Saipan where he will depict coral reef in an artwork

The Mariana Island Nature Alliance, the Marianas Visitors Authority and other CNMI government agencies are now working together to facilitate Wyland’s visit to the CNMI.

In celebrating the International Year of the Reef, MINA wants to give CNMI’s at-risk children to join Wyland and his seven assistants create a life-sized mural that will portray the commonweath’s unique coral reef ecosystem.

This rare opportunity for the CNMI became possible after MINA board members invited Wyland who unveiled his work, the official 2008 International Year of the Coral Reef painting during the 19th US Coral Reef Task Force meeting in Washington, D.C. last February.
