A former military vessel, the USS Vandenberg, an artificial reef  that sits in 93 ft of water off Key West, FL, just might be the most unique gallery space in the world.  Austrian photographer, Andreas Franke, photographed the Vandendberg last year and has used his photographs to create digital composite art.  About a dozen of his 4x5 ft pieces are currently on display along the ships starboard side exterior.

Each piece of artwork is encased in plexiglass and mounted on a silicone sealed, stainless steel frame.

The exhibition of Franke’s work opened to divers on the Vandenberg this week.  Organizers hope to have the installation continue through t he end of the year.

Read more about the artist and the exhibit at keysnews.com  There is also a website in the works (www.the-vandenberg.com) that will include photos and video of the wreck and the art exhibit.
