Aquatica Announces Housing for Sony NEX-5n

By Joseph Tepper, October 28, 2011 @ 11:55 AM (EST)

The effects of the Aquatica and Amphibico merge continue to be apparent in the companies’ product releases. With the announcement of their AN-5n for Sony’s NEX-5n, Aquatica has integrated a mainstay of the Amphibico video housings- their patented latching system.

The latching system that is used to secure thousands of dollars worth of video equipment will help keep the NEX-5n –and presumably future Aquatica housing owners– dry. Aquatica also continues the trend of SLR housing manufacturers creating very sleek housings for EVIL cameras. The Aquatica’s NEX-5n provides access to all essential camera controls and is depth rated to 300 feet.

Aquatica also announced a series of compact ports to compliment the lenses available for the NEX camera, including a dome port and flat port. The company also plans to release an adaptor, which will permit the use of Aquatica’s existing SLR ports. Another unique aspect of the AN-5n housing is the integrated 15-degree angled view of the LCD screen aimed to make playback easier in diving conditions.

No pricing or release information has been released, but DPG will get a first hand look at this new housing at DEMA next week as part of our coverage!
