Adobe has provided a sneak peek at a future Photoshop CC tool that could save you some serious time creating selections with the Lasso tool. Powered by Sensei machine learning, the new Object Selection Tool automatically selects an object in the frame that you point at. The tool can also be used to add or remove individual elements within the image.
The new tool is a refinement of the Subject Selection Tool available in current versions of Photoshop. You can lasso a freehand selection or drag out a marquee over a portion of the image, and the Object Selection Tool will pick out objects within that area and select them. It can therefore also be used as a quick masking tool.
According to Adobe, the Object Selection Tool is coming “soon” to Photoshop CC—which should mean no more than a month or two after the release of this teaser video.
