Adobe has announced version 11.3 of Camera Raw and updates to Lightroom Classic CC and desktop and mobile versions of Lightroom CC. The new release includes added camera support and updated lens profiles. Among the camera systems that have been added are the Canon EOS Rebel SL3 (EOS 250D) and Panasonic Lumix G99 (G90).
The May updates include a new editing control called Texture, which is aimed at enhancing or toning down details such as skin and hair. According to Adobe, by isolating these “medium-sized” details, the tool can smooth skin without affecting finer details in the pores or accentuate hair without introducing noise or affecting bokeh. Adobe says Texture “works wonderfully in conjunction with other tools like Clarity and Dehaze.”
There’s also a new Defringe tool in Lightroom CC for Mac and Windows. Defringe, as you’d expect, is designed to remove those pesky purple or green fringes caused by lens chromatic aberrations. In Lightroom Classic, Flat-Field Correction is now built into the Library module. The tool, which was previously only available as a plug-in, helps correct for sensor and lens characteristics that can result in asymmetrical color casts.
Both Camera Raw and Lightroom can be updated via the update mechanism in the Creative Cloud app.
