Adobe has unveiled version 11.2 of Camera Raw and version 8.2 of Lightroom Classic CC. The updates center around a new feature called Enhance Details—powered by the company’s artificial intelligence and machine learning platform, Sensei—that claims to improve fine detail and color rendering while reducing artifacts on nearly any RAW image.
The feature “works well” on RAW mosaic files from cameras with Bayer sensors such as Nikon, Sony, and Canon, and X-Trans sensors by Fujifilm. Adobe says resolution can be increased by up to 30%.
Both the Mac and Windows versions of Lightroom CC also receive new HDR, Pano, and HDR Pano merge tools, which work with both RAW and non-RAW images. The HDR and HDR Pano tools work most effectively when users input images shot at varying exposures using their cameras’ auto exposure bracketing mode. To create HDR images, Lightroom merges the images automatically, and for HDR panoramas, alignment and distortion are also automatically corrected.
Both Camera Raw and Lightroom can be updated via the update mechanism in the Creative Cloud app. You can read more about the Enhance Details feature on Adobe’s blog.
