Adobe Photoshop for iPad Gains Refine Edge Brush

As promised, Adobe has announced that Photoshop for iPad has been updated with the Refine Edge Brush from the desktop version of the popular image-editing software. While the underlying technology is the same, the interface has been tweaked a bit to make more sense in the context of the iPad’s touch-based design. The new tool makes it a breeze to select parts of an image precisely, especially for “the trickiest subjects like hair and fur”—and sea fans or scorpionfish.

The update also adds the Rotate Canvas tool: You can now use two fingers to rotate the canvas to make it easier to edit your image. The feature allows zooming simultaneously, and zoom and rotation is reset easily by just quickly pinching out on the canvas. Rotation can be set to snap to 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees if desired, and both rotation and snapping can be toggled on/off in the settings.

The updated app can be downloaded from the App Store now.
