Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) in Singapore turns 25 this year, and the accompanying Ocean19 Festival is themed “Dedicated to a Plastic-Free Ocean.” The launch event for the festival—which is free entry—is Thursday, April 11, at 5pm and takes place on Level 4 of Singapore’s Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre, the venue for the following three days of the expo.
As in previous years, visitors can expect a show floor crammed with booths from a broad range of companies and organizations associated with the dive industry, including of course many of the major brands in underwater imaging.
As well as hosting talks on the issue of marine plastic pollution, ADEX has made a bold pledge to become the first dive show to forego the use of plastic, with the lofty goal of being completely free of single-use plastic by the year 2021. The organizers are asking all participants to become “Ocean Citizens” and pledge to refuse, reuse, reduce and recycle single-use plastic products in the ADEX exhibition hall.
DPG will be there (booth S17), so if you’re attending the show, please drop in and say “hello”!
