A Call For More Marine Scientists

By Matt J. Weiss, October 4, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
Fishery assessment may not be the most glamours position in marine biology but its an important one. NOAA has 18 positions open for marine scientist who specializes in fisheries. Apparently its hard to fill these positions because its involves a strong background in both marine biology and mathematics.

The worlds fisheries are extremely important area of science and life in general. Its estimated that in 50 years most of the worlds fisheries will collapse, causing global chaos as many people use fish as their main protein.

Being a marine biology student myself, I can not say I fit the bill of an applicant, but I wish I could. It could be a really effective way to use an education, do some good science and be around marine biology.
