The pros join the Lembeh team for another exciting weeklong workshop

It’s December which means it’s “Capturing Critters in Lembeh” time again at Lembeh Resort. “Capturing Critters in Lembeh” is a unique annual underwater imaging workshop which is now in its 6th year running. Unlike other photography and videography workshops, the weeklong “Capturing Critters in Lembeh” workshop features three visiting world-class photo/video professionals. Year on year we have seen this prestigious event grow and this year’s heavyweight pro lineup includes Alex Tattersall, Martin Edge and Ethan Daniels alongside Lembeh Resort in-house pros Sascha Janson and Frederic Juneau.

Participants of this year’s event will be kept busy throughout the week with twice daily photography and videography presentations, one-on-one time, and critiques with the pros, marine life presentations, and of course some epic Lembeh Strait diving accompanied by the pros themselves for practical sessions underwater. With a five strong team of pros, we are looking forward to some incredible imagery as the week progresses.

Alex Tattersall (award-winning underwater photographer and founder of Underwater Visions), Martin Edge (award-winning underwater shooter and author of “The Underwater Photographer”) and Ethan Daniels (award-winning photojournalist and author of “Under Cape Cod Waters”, “Coral Triangle Seascapes” and “Marine Life and Natural History of the Coral Triangle”) promise to be a formidable team.

“Capturing Critters in Lembeh” is open to all levels of photographers regardless of experience and camera system. Last year’s event produced a stunning array of high-quality images from all participants, who also showed phenomenal individual development over the course of the week.

During this year’s workshop, just a few of the presentation highlights include underwater photography composition and subject selection; basic lighting and backscatter; using snoots, video lights and LEDs; backlighting, inward lighting and other creative effects; macro essentials; equipment and accessories; photo and video editing; advanced editing in Adobe Lightroom as well as other tips and techniques to produce quality images.

Lembeh Resort’s in-house marine biologists (Dimpy Jacobs and Agus Peloa) will be hosting evening marine life presentations focused on how to capture striking images of critters according to their natural behaviours.

Lembeh Strait’s world-class muck diving sites make Lembeh a premier destination for underwater photographers and videographers. With an unrivaled abundance of some of the world’s most unusual and rare macro marine life, there will be no shortage of subject choices.

Lembeh Resort’s “Capturing Critters in Lembeh” annual workshops are extremely popular and places sell out a long time in advance. If you'd like to book a place for the 2018 Workshop (December 5–12), which will feature photo/video pros Brandi Mueller, Brent Durand and Tobias Friedrich, contact Lembeh Resort.
