36th World Festival of Underwater Pictures To Be Held In Marseille
By Jason Heller, June 2, 2009 @ 08:43 AM (EST)
The prestigious World festival of Underwater Pictures, now in its 36th year, will take place from October 29th to November 1st 2009 in Marseille, France at the Palais du Pharo.
For years the festival was held in the town of Antibes, and even earned "Antibes" as its nickname. Unfortunately the local town officials were not cooperative this year and the festival has moved to Marseille, an equally fitting setting also in the south of France.
DPG congratulates Daniel Mercier and Phillippe Vallette for organizing and hosting this event each and every year for the benefit of our entire community.

This important event in the underwater photography and film community brings together artists, photographers, film makers, exhibitors, journalists and a sizable local community that loves the sea. Last year the festival attracted over 25,000 visitors. See complete converage from the 2008 festival here. We'll be there again this year providing daily coverage.
Of course we'd be remiss not to mention the fact that in 2008 DivePhotoGuide received the award for best website from this prestigious competition.
The deadline for entires to the 2009 competition is September 15th. Good luck!
