TTL

"Through the Lens Metering". Automatic flash exposure measured through the camera?s lens. Point & shoot cameras measure flash exposure by using a series of pre-flashes. Digital SLRs do this as well in special variants of TTL that vary by manufacturer (iTTL for Nikon , E-TTL for Canon).
