Underwater Photography Glossary

An optical triggering of a strobe with light from another strobe. Most strobes have an optical slave sensor, which must be in the line of site of another strobe in order to trigger. It can also be triggered by the strobes of other photographers. Many point and shoot cameras use fiber optic cables that have a sensor that attaches to the outside of the housing covering the in-camera flash and triggering the off camera strobe.
