I don't think I have a particular style. I still consider myself learning how to take pictures and am constantly trying new things. Lately I have been enjoying the challenges of wide more than macro. I am sure having fun with it all. I began taking underwater photos five years ago to show my friends how beautiful diving can be. I started the web page around three years ago to make it easier to disseminate the information. For better or worse, some of my original photos are still there. It is interesting to watch the progression of my shooting over the years. More...

I like macro, but I prefer fisheye or wideangle. My intention is to show the beauty of the underwater landscape and it's a highlight for me to shoot a picture that tells a story that has a message in it. More...

From the very beginning that I started underwater photography in 2003, I have had a very clear idea on how my UW photos should look like, i.e., I try to make my images to be different, dramatic, aesthetic with singular focal spot; which is why when it comes to macro shots I use bigger aperture on a DSLR to get a very shallow DOF that highlights the subject. While in wide-angle shots I like to point and shoot with a compact camera to obtain images that are rough, less sharp; and try not just to freeze the moment you take the shot but to create a feel with motions. I'm fortunate to live 3 hours ride from the Red Sea where I'm doing most of my diving especially in Eilat, which is located in the northern part of the gulf of Akaba and has excellent diving conditions. I spend dive vacations in the Egyptian part of the Red Sea and from time to time I visit other exotic places. These days, I am not often found without a camera especially not underwater, and I can certainly say that underwater photography is my major hobby. More...

Being a relatively new underwater photographer, my style can only be described as experimental. I'm in awe of all things underwater, and am inspired by nearly everything I come across. However, I must profess to favoring what's not easily seen by the naked eye. I enjoy taking a deeper, thorough look and discovering tiny, wonderful surprises. But what I enjoy more is the challenge and the reward of capturing and sharing those images, and reliving the moment with each glance. More...

My "underwater photographic style" took some time to develop. I wanted my images to be different to any other photographer. I spent a few years in developing an "artistic" style. Photographing contrasting colors and patterns rather than just a fish or a piece of coral. That's not to say that I don't have those images in my portfolio I have just photographed them also in an "artistic" style. More...

For me, one issue is more important than anything else. Time! When I dive I normally make long dives and try to dive whenever it's possible. Every dive is a potentially bad dive just as well a really good one, but you never know if you never go! When I shoot I try to think a lot about composition. Exposure and subject is of course also important. But for me I think that a well composed picture is often what makes the picture turn into something special. More...

My affair with underwater photography started with a basic curiosity about taking pictures underwater two and half years ago, and rapidly became my biggest hobby, which consumes enormous chunk of my free time now! My favorite subject - dramatism and scale of the underwater world, interaction between its inhabitants and humans. I shoot mainly wide angle. However recently I find myself hooked into macro shooting more and more! More...

For the most part, my style is "up-close and personal." I am mostly interested in the macro world because it enables divers, and non-divers alike, to see what's hidden within the big picture. More...

I am fortunate to do photography as a hobby, vs a profession. I shoot what I like. In the last few years I've been more interested in wideangle . I spend a lot of effort on lighting to get different effects. I like to try new angles, and perspectives. More...

I love to get in close, Stalk and study behavior. Doing so without a re-breather is no easy task. I was taught to minimize the distance and water between the subject and your lense. Paint a little color with a complementing flash of light and let nature do the rest. I try to approach every dive as if it is the best dive of my life and somehow something always stands up to perform. While I travel worldwide to capture photos underwater, I'm fortunate to have a place to shoot in my own backyard... The Channel Islands. More...

This is hard for me to judge... I am a naturalist, I think. I like to bring out the true crisp colors of Macro life that only a photo can do. And it is a real challenge. Shapes and patterns are something I look for when diving, thinking of isolating some of the things you encounter - and presenting them in a different way. I am fascinated by sharks - the thrill of getting close enough to touch - but only take the picture. More...

Very simple: I take my underwater photographs only free-diving. Free-diving allows me to interact closely with my preferred subjects - sharks. My equipment is basic: A Nikonos V with 28 and 20 mm lenses. No flash, only available light. Composition is extremely important for me. More...
