German housing manufacturer BS Kinetics was sharing some booth space with Reef Photo. BS Kinetics produces carbon fiber housings for still and video cameras, which are lightweight - a great attribute in the current state of air travel woes.

BS Kinetics has gained some traction in Europe and just now are beginning to get into the US market. BS Kinetics is pretty much the only manufacturer of SLR housings for the Sony Alpha series, and of course they also suport Nikon, Canon and recently announced support for Olympus SLR's.

BS Kinetics Underwater Housings

On hand at DEMA they had two housings on display. One was the Negev - a universal housing for different camcorders (e.g. Sony TRV 890, 900, 950, PD 100, etc.), with a 3.5 inch monitor. All common camera functions can be op-erated and additional ones can be installed and customized. The carbon fiber housing without strobes is actually positively buoyant! With strobes it's neutral.

Also on display was the Gibson housing, which comes in configurations for Nikon, Canon, Olympus and Sony SLR's. They were displaying one for the Canon EOS 450D.
