Hello everyone. As usual, DPG had a booth at Beneath The Sea and, of course we are excited to bring you coverage of the event. This is my first trade show, and what a way to start—with the biggest consumer dive show in the world. It was great to meet so many of the people in the underwater photography and videography industry. Between the photo contests and the many presentations and booths, underwater photography and videography had a really strong presence at the show.

The Olympus booth was very popular with both serious and novice underwater photographers thanks to their line of hardy point and shoot cameras. The Stylus 1030 in the PT-043 housing was a big hit due to it being waterproof and shockproof. If only all my electronics were like that! We had a number of scary laptop moments at the booth.

Another booth popular with the compact camera shooters was the Sealife booth.

They were displaying their new Digital Pro Flash SL961. From the demonstrations the recovery time was a big improvement from the previous models and overall excellent strobe for point and shoot cameras.

Keri Wilk and the rest of Reefnet.com was there with their line of products including the brand new the SubSee Macro Adapter. Should be an interesting new product for macro photographers from an innovative company. Keri says its equivalent to a +10 diopter and can yield between 2:1 and 3:1 depending on the lens and port geometry.

The Fantasea booth was another hot booth for underwater photographers.
Ran showed off the new Nikon Coolpix S210 in Fantasea housing with Nano flash & Nano focus light. The focus light has a sensor that turns off the light when it detects the flash. The housing also comes with one year of DEPP flood insuarance.
NYUPS co-founder, Larry Cohen, was also working the Fantasea booth.

Ran also showed us the new Nano LED pro set via light saber fight with Wendy. All Wendy needs is the princess Leah haircut!

Ikelite was also there displaying their underwater camera and video housings. The new video package for the JVC MG 730 that includes the camera and housing, was of particular interest, and will be available in late April.

For all of our videographers Amphibico had a great display showcasing their new Ultra Compact Video Arc light ( shown below with the adjustable ball joint extension arm), as well as their line of housings.

Aquatica was also in attendance, and for an underwater photographer, their booth made me feel like a kid at a candy store!

Blake & Mauricio of Aqautica showed off their D300 housing with it’s live view.

Please stay tuned for additional coverage as we sort out all the new products and photographs of exciting people from the show.

I will leave you with a picture of the best booth and probably the most improved one since I was there instead of Jason!
